“Every Captive Free” is a live arts presentation of dance, music, theater and media encompassing the story and pain of young women who have survived modern day slavery. The show’s purpose is to bring awareness, hope, healing and further funding for inspiring organization; Amirah, Inc.
Amirah (pronounced \a-meer-ah\) is a non-profit organization located in the Boston area dedicated to providing effective, whole person aftercare for survivors of modern day slavery.
“We do this through long term, residential homes designed to provide a safe place for healing, restoration and re-integration. We use Individual Care Plans to address the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and vocational needs of each person in our care.” –Amirah, Inc.
Amirah is on the brink of opening the very first safe house in New England for women who have endured and survived being trafficked through the New England area. Human trafficking is not just a dilemma overseas but in cities minutes from our backyards; Boston, Portland, Providence and Hartford to name a few.
“Human trafficking continues to be reported in the local and regional news. A survey of the recent headlines upends the misguided notions that slavery ended long ago and that humans are not for sale right here in our local communities. These stories deliver a huge wake-up call for those who may be unaware, and they illustrate the ever-growing need for survivor aftercare. Here are the recent trafficking stories from the past three months…” –Amirah, Inc.
Although the current home in Massachusetts is near complete, Amirah still needs our help so that each survivor on the waiting list will not just be given a place to live but thoughtful, personalized care comprised of dedicated staff to help.
Our hope is that through watching this show eyes and hearts will be opened to a serious epidemic that is often overlooked. The show will bring us through a journey of stories, pain, hope, healing and freedom.
Thank you all for your time and we look forward to hopefully seeing you March 16th!
Peace & Blessings,
